An old red barn in NW Arkansas.

I took this photo of this beautiful barn in a heavy, cold rain several years ago. I just wanted to post this image since like a lot of old barns and buildings, it is no longer there. This one was lost to a tornado though, not to neglect like so many others. #barn #barns #old barn, #red barn, #Arkansas,

Wild Rose Pass in Southwest Texas

If you have ever driven across Southwest Texas, you probably think of flat barren land with occassional oil rigs and miles and miles of nothing. That's what I used to think of  until a recent drive through Alpine and Fort Davis, Texas. I came over a hill and there was this gorgeous view that I didn't even know Texas had. I had to stop and get out and just stare at the view in all directions. I was so awestruck that I almost forgot that I had my camera in the car, so I got it out and took some images to look at later and see if what I saw was real. I Will be going back to this amazing area.

Downtown Siloam Springs

There is still a little color left on the trees, but it won't be there much longer. I walked around in downtown Siloam Springs yesterday so I could take a few photos before the leaves disappear for the winter. It was really windy so the water wasn't real smooth but the colors were still pretty decent in the trees. I think that I'll try and get up real early tomorrow and see if I can get some shots before the wind picks up.

Dogwood Canyon in Missouri.

Went driving around the other day and crossed the state-line into Missouri. I went to a place I had been to several years ago called Dogwood Canyon.  It was after 4 pm and they close at 5, so I went in anyway, but couldn't walk too far in that time. About a mile in I noticed this scene and had to take a photo. I would like to go back when I could get there a little earlier and not have to rush, plus they charge you $12.95 to get in, whether you're there all day or 45 minutes.

More Barns

The snow melted away last week but snowed again this week. I still haven't had the chance to drive up to Boxley and visit the elk , but I did go down a couple of icy backroads and shot some more barns near my house. Hopefully I can go see the elk this weekend but until then, here's a couple more barn photos.

Barns in the snow.

We got alot of snow and ice in N/W Arkansas again this past weekend. I tried to get up to Boxley Valley and get some shots of the elk in the snow, but, once I got up past Kingston at the top of the hill, it looked like the snow plows just stopped right there and turned around. I did too. I decided to see if I could get out to Clifty and get some pictures of a couple of barns I seen a few weeks ago. The roads were pretty clear so I did get some shots of a few barns and some trees in the fog. It felt good to get out of town and explore a little. Here's a couple of pictures I took from near Clifty. It's supposed to rain this week so all of the snow will probably be gone before I can get out again, I might have to call in sick and go exploring.
